Theme engineering, apps and integrations

    Shopify Development

Shopify builds that stay fast and stay maintainable. Custom Liquid themes and Online Store 2.0 sections your marketing team can actually use, API and app integrations that do not break at scale, and performance treated as a build requirement rather than a post-launch clean-up.

    Problems I Solve

Symptoms this engagement is built to fix

Premium themes carrying 300KB of JavaScript for features the store never uses.

App stacks that inject scripts into every page and destroy interaction responsiveness.

Content teams blocked because every layout change needs a developer.

Custom functionality bolted on as fragile theme hacks instead of proper sections or apps.

ERP, PIM, subscription or fulfilment integrations that break on catalogue growth.

Migrations to Shopify that lose URLs, rankings and structured data.

Themes built for the team that will use them

A Shopify build is only successful if the marketing team can run the store without a developer. I build with Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks so pages are composable in the theme editor, with schema settings named in plain language and sensible defaults. Custom functionality goes into properly scoped sections, metafields and metaobjects rather than hard-coded Liquid, so product data stays structured and reusable across templates, feeds and integrations. Where a headless or hydrogen approach is genuinely justified I will say so — but for most merchants a well-engineered Liquid theme is faster to ship, cheaper to maintain and easier to keep SEO-clean.

    Performance as a build constraint

Speed is decided during the build, not after it. I set a performance budget up front, load JavaScript only where a template needs it, defer third-party tags through a controlled loading strategy, use Shopify's image CDN with correct sizing and formats, and keep Liquid loops off the critical path. App decisions get evaluated against their runtime cost before installation, not after a Core Web Vitals failure shows up in Search Console.

    Integrations and automation

I build the connections a growing store needs: Admin and Storefront API work, product and inventory sync with ERP or PIM systems, order flows into fulfilment and accounting platforms, subscription and B2B setups, and automation of repetitive operations. Integrations are built with retry handling, rate-limit awareness and logging, so a catalogue update or a traffic spike does not silently drop orders.

    SEO built into the build

Because I also do the technical SEO, the build ships with correct canonical handling for variants and collections, clean pagination, Product and Breadcrumb schema that matches the rendered page, sensible URL structure, and hreflang wiring where you sell across markets. On replatforms, URL mapping and redirects are planned before launch rather than reconstructed afterwards.

    Illustrative Engagement

    A representative scenario

    The problem

A merchant on a heavily customised premium theme could not launch new landing pages without developer time, and mobile interaction latency was failing.

    The approach

The theme was rebuilt around Online Store 2.0 sections with metaobject-driven content, unused app scripts were removed, and remaining third-party tags moved to a controlled loader.

    The outcome

Marketing began shipping campaign pages without developer involvement, and interaction responsiveness moved back into passing range on mobile.

Composite scenario based on typical engagements. Replace with a real, attributed case study once published.
